So what’s new? We are! Camp Bandage is coming to South Grand Lake this summer, June 10th! We are just getting started with planning so check back here for more information.
If you would like to be involved with Camp Bandage South Grand Lake, please read this letter from our coordinator, Vince Scoufos:
Thank you for your interest in the kid’s safety fair to be held at Grand Lake RV Resort on upper Duck Creek at Grand Lake on Saturday, June 10th, 2017. This event in being promoted and coordinated by The South Grand Lake Chamber of Commerce, The Grand Lake Association, and the long-running Camp Bandage program established in Broken Arrow over 30 years ago.
This event is strictly not-for-profit. All sponsor funds will be directed to CAMP BANDAGE. All food and items will be free to the public. Nothing will be sold during the event. It is entirely a public service safety fair directed at children under driving age, and their parents and grandparents.
Grand Lake is the supreme recreational area in the region. And as we know, outdoor activities on the lake and the surrounding area come with some risk for injury. We believe that IT IS GOOD BUSINESS TO SUPPORT SAFE RECREATION on land and lake. The safety fair is an extension of the very successful BE SAFE on LAND & LAKE sign and billboard program endorsed by the South Grand Chamber in Spring and Summer of 2016.
The Grand River Dam Authority, ATV Drive Safe Oklahoma, Area Fire and Police, area EMT, area Medical Providers, plus volunteer safety groups will be set-up doing safety classes, demonstrations and providing kid-friendly safety material on a wide variety of subjects. There will be free food, t-shirts and trinkets of all kinds.
We need cash and in-kind support. A Major Sponsorship is $1,500. Donations of lesser amounts will also be recognized in promotional material, media releases, and at the event. We need donations of food items, i.e. hotdogs, chips, fruit, soft drinks and water. Other support i.e. tents, signs, portable restrooms, printing, advertising, decorations, giveaway items, and loaner vehicles etc. will be recognized.
Sponsors are encouraged participate at the event with a tent and representatives. We need 30 volunteers to assist in setting up and conducting the event.
What better way to win the hearts and minds of both fulltime and weekend Grandlakers than to provide something fun and educational for their children!
